Effective 14th October 2025, all containers arriving at the Port of Mogadishu must be accompanied by a valid Electronic Cargo Tracking Number (ECTN), as mandated by the Ministry of Ports and Marine Transport (Ref. No. XW/WDGB/89/09/2025).

The ECTN number must be clearly stated on the Bill of Lading prior to shipment.

Cargo that does not have a valid ECTN will not be accepted for loading or discharge at any Somali ports.

This regulation aims to improve transparency, cargo traceability, and compliance with Somalia’s port documentation standards.
