Sierra Leone, officially the Republic of Sierra Leone, is a country on the southwest coast of West Africa. It is bordered by Liberia to the southeast and Guinea surrounds the northern half of the nation.
Covering a total area of 71,740 km2, Sierra Leone has a tropical climate, with diverse environments ranging from savanna to rainforests. The capital and largest city is Freetown.
Sierra Leone customs implemented the BSC / ENS regulation in 2000. BSC / ENS must be obtained for all shipments to Sierra Leone.
Transit shipments via ports of Sierra Leone are exempted from BSC/ENS.
What is Sierra Leone BSC?
BSC stands for Bordereau de Suivi des Cargaisons or ENS Entry Summary Number, which is similar to Cargo Tracking Note.
The certificate contains information and details about the exporter, the importer, the value of the goods, the amount of the goods, the vessel name, etc.
BSC / ENS certificate needs to be obtained 5 days before arrival at destination.
If you fail to validate the certificate, cargo won’t have an entry clearance; and will be sent back to the origin.

Documents Required for BSC / ENS Certification:
Bill of Lading: Contains information about the exporter, the importer, the weight of the goods, the shipping line, the vessel name, etc.
Commercial Invoice: Contains details of the goods, the freight cost, the INCOTERM, and some other charges if there is any, etc.
Freight Invoice: Only a requirement if the freight cost isn’t on the commercial invoice.
Customs Declaration: Customs Officials of the exporter country prepares this document, and it lists the goods getting transported and contains some important details of them. (Shipping Bill in India)
Procedure of filing BSC / ENS Certification?
Submit the required documents by email or online.
Our team will verify the draft and file the BSC / ENS with Portal.
You will be sent Performa invoice.
Once the payment has been received, you will get the BSC / ENS number followed by draft.
Once you approve the draft, a validated certificate will be shared.
Penalty for non-Compliance
BSC / ENS Sierra Leone certificate must be validated 5 days before arrival to Sierra Leone.
The penalty in the form of significant regulation charge determined by the Sierra Leone National Port Officials is imposed to the cargo owner.
Penalty can go up-to $2500 and detention and demurrage charges till the cargo is cleared by the buyer.
Cargo will not be cleared till the time the certificate is produced.
